ISLAMABAD Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Chinese Embassy on Wednesday to strongly condemn the shooting incident in Karachi that left several Chinese nationals injured.

The attack raised concerns about the safety of Chinese citizens working in Pakistan and was condemned at the highest level, with Sharif-led government pledging all-out support and safety for foreigners.

During his visit, the premier expressed his deepest sympathies to victims and conveyed his commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the attack are quickly apprehended and brought to justice. PM assured Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong that he is personally overseeing the probe, and those behind this heinous act will face exemplary punishment.

He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Interior Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi, PM Sharif emphasized that the incident was a deliberate attempt to harm the longstanding, fraternal relations between Pakistan and China. He reiterated that the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan is a top priority for the government.

PM also reassured Ambassador Jiang that the injured Chinese nationals were receiving the best medical treatment and that their health was improving. He expressed satisfaction over the ongoing medical care and vowed that the government would continue to monitor the situation closely.

Chinese envoy thanked Prime Minister for his visit and expressed confidence that swift action would be taken to ensure the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions. He also hoped that the incident would not affect the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
