Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated that he will not compromise on his ‘anti-corruption drive’ and directed the ruling party lawmakers to expose the wrongdoings of the incumbent and past governments.

The premier made these remarks in a meeting with MNAs Riyaz Fatyana and Noor Alam Khan in Islamabad on Thursday, who are members of the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee.

They briefed the premier on PAC’s performance and added that the committee headed by, opposition MNA Rana Tanveer Hussain, only looked into the audit papers and corruption cases could not be concluded due to the weakness of investigating agencies like NAB and the FIA.

While directing the treasury benches members to ensure their attendance in the PAC meeting, Imran said the committee was mandated to protect the taxpayers’ money and eradicate corruption.

He urged the MNAs to proactively attend the forum’s meetings and unmask the corrupt practices of past and incumbent government officials.

Meanwhile, in a meeting chaired by PM on the Ehsaas Rashan Programme, he said that the federal government was taking all possible measures to provide maximum relief to the common man as inflation hit a 21-month high in November.

“Being cognizant of the suffering of people due to inflation, we are extending subsidy to poorest of the poor people on essential commodities,” the premier said.

Imran was apprised that under the Ehsaas Ration Programme, a monthly subsidy of Rs1,000 on flour, ghee and pulses will be given to 20 million households that have a monthly income of below Rs 50,000.

He was also informed that the programme would be launched across the country on December 15, 2021. Registration of karyana stores under the programme was in progress, and more than 15,000 had been registered so far.

Furthermore, the prime minister directed the authorities to speed up the registration process to benefit the maximum number of poor households in the country.

The prime minister further directed to involve district government authorities to raise awareness among the stores and the potential beneficiaries in this regard.

The meeting was attended by SAPM on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar, Advisor on Finance Shaukat Tarin, Chief Minister GB Khalid Khurshid, SAPM on Political Communication Dr Shehbaz Gill and other senior officials.

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan, Prime Minister AJ&K Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi joined the meeting via video link.
