Peoples Labor Bureau (PLB) Central Punjab has expressed its reservations over the decision of the Supreme Court a few days back wherein it declared illegal and unconstitutional a PPP-era law called Sacked Employees (Reinstatement) Ordinance Act 2010 under which a number of people were employed or promoted.
Office bearers of PLB said that through this decision not only the thousands of employees would go unemployed but also they would be unable to run their kitchen.
The decision will promote unemployment in the country. President PLB, Central Punjab, Syed Nazar Hussain shah and Secretary General Sajid Mehmood Gujjar said that the decision will affect more than 10000 employees working in different departments.
They were of the view that education of the children in thousands will be compromised also.
They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take Suo Moto action and order to review the decision of a three member bench.
It is worth mentioning here that
as a result of the declaration in a 42-page judgment, any benefit that accrued to the beneficiaries has been ceased with immediate effect.
The case was heard by a three-judge SC bench consisting of Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Munib Akhtar. The judgment was also authored by Justice Mushir Alam who retired on Tuesday.
The judgment explained that the case at hand involved a number of groups in which appellants/petitioners have challenged the appointments/ promotions under the Sacked Employees (Reinstatement) Act (SERA) 2010.
The verdict divided the groups into further categories like those who were regular employees of organisations and departments or their seniority was affected by the employees inducted under SERA or those who were extended the benefit of the Act.
