An Organ Procurement Cell (OPC) will be established in Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (PHOTA), and Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI&RC) will facilitate the process of organ and tissue donation from a deceased donor for transplantation.

In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between PKLI&RC and PHOTA on Friday.

Prof Faisal Saud Dar, Dean PKLI&RC, and Dr Tazeen Ziya, Hospital Director (Acting) were delighted to sign and exchange the MoU with the representatives of PHOTA, including Dr Murtaza Haider, Director General/Administration; and Dr Sajjad Asghar, Director Organ Procurement Cell.

As the PHOTA is establishing its Organ Procurement Cell (OPC), the OPC will provide coordinated deceased organ and tissue procurement, preservation, transportation, and transplantation services. PKLI will be the recipient hospital, which will be responsible for the retrieval.
