Pakistan International Airlines has fired 23 employees over fake degrees, bribery, theft of government record and on other charges.
According to a PIA spokesman, five employees were fired for forging, tampering with degrees and documents, six for prolonged absence without permission, one for disclosing official information, two for bribing a contractor, three for engaging in illegal and immoral activities, five for stealing and destroying government records and one for smuggling.
Three employees were demoted for not working as per PIA orders. The salaries of five employees were reduced for violating SOPs while show cause notices were also issued to seven employees.
On the other hand, PIA also issued certificates of appreciation to 11 employees who performed well while giving cash awards to five employees.
Officials said the five-year business plan for 2019-23 is being implemented in consultation with the national airline, Ministry of Finance, National Bank, State Bank, Regional Equipment Manufacturer and International Air Transport Association.
