The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has issued a warning against the proposed deregulation of fuel prices, stating that it could have detrimental effects on both the industry and the general public. Abdul Sami Khan, speaking on behalf of the association during a press conference in Karachi, emphasized that deregulation would lead to increased prices and a decline in fuel quality, particularly in remote areas. Khan expressed concerns that such a move could trigger hyperinflation and economic instability.
Threatening protests and legal action, the PPDA urged authorities to reconsider the decision proposed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for phase-wise deregulation of fuel prices.
