Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather update; rains, isolated hailstorms likely

PESHAWAR – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday evening/night and during the weekend. Isolated hailstorms are also likely during the period.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly wave will likely affect the upper and western parts of the country from Friday evening/tonight.

Under the influence of these conditions, partly cloudy weather conditions with rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Balakot, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai and Waziristan on Friday evening/night and during the weekend. Hailstorms are also likely at isolated places during the period.

In Peshawar, the maximum temperatures will likely stay between 38-40 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Peshawar and most districts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 44 per cent.

In Peshawar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 47 per cent.
