PEF to offer scholarships to students

Professional Education Foundation (PEF) will offer scholarships to the students from low-income backgrounds of Faculty of Computing & Information Technology (FCIT) Punjab University.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was penned between FCIT and PEF for the award of scholarships here on Monday.

Punjab University Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar and Jawaid Faruqui from PEF signed this agreement in the presence of Dean FCIT Prof Dr Shahzad Sarwar and others.

The MoU will serve the purpose to offer scholarships to the students at FCIT who belong to a relatively low income background.

The PEF has offered scholarships in terms of full tuition fee waiver to 50 students every year starting from Fall 2021.

ach selected student of FCIT will get a scholarship amount 60,000 PKR per year for a period of four years. In the steady state, 200 students would be receiving scholarships worth of Rs 12 million every year. It is the first time that PEF has offered scholarships to the students of computing disciplines, in Pakistan. The organization is already providing financial support to the students of medical and engineering programs.

The PEF has become a source of smile and future success of more than 2,000 students across Pakistan.

Dr Sarwar thanked PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar for his guidance and support in materializing this initiative.
