The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel has addressed recent statements made by Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen concerning fast bowler Ihsanullah’s injury and treatment.

Ihsanullah, who made waves in the previous Pakistan Super League season with his impressive pace, suffered an elbow injury after the series against New Zealand, leading to his absence from major events such as the Asia Cup and World Cup.

Tareen revealed that Ihsanullah’s recovery was prolonged due to an initial misdiagnosis and an unsuccessful surgery in Lahore. However, he acknowledged the PCB’s cooperation in facilitating assessments by specialists in the UK.

In response, PCB’s Director of Medical and Sports Sciences, Dr. Sohail Saleem, clarified that while there was a misinterpretation of the initial MRI report, there was no misdiagnosis.

Dr. Saleem insisted on reevaluating the MRI in England, which revealed different results than the initial assessment, without the need for additional scans.

Furthermore, Dr. Saleem highlighted that the typical recovery period for elbow injuries post-surgery ranges from nine to eighteen months. He stressed that Ihsanullah is receiving proper care during rehabilitation and refuted any claims of neglect. Additionally, he underscored the importance of collaboration between PSL franchises and the PCB for the well-being and recovery of players.—Agencies
