LAHORE – Former Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, after assuming the position of Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is ready to bring waves of changes to the board.
Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB chairman, brought several officers from the Punjab government onto the board, assigning them the various responsibilities and roles.
The police service’s Irtaza Komail has been appointed as the Chief Security Officer, who can travel with the national cricket team on foreign tours.
Several changes are expected in the coming days. Salman Naseer could be appointed as the head of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
However, amid expected changes, concerns are rising about the fate of current officials post PSL.
The latest reports said that Lieutenant (Retd) Sahil Ashraf, a Pakistan Administrative Service officer, was to assume the position, but according to the sources, the Punjab government did not relieve him yet. If changes occured in the constitution, the appointment of the COO is also possible.
On the other hand, PCB employees are extremely worried about their future.
Internally, it is circulating that a list of over 100 officials has been prepared, who will be sent home after the PSL finals.
However, according to the sources close to the Chairman, there is no possibility of removing such a large number of officials.
“Only those who do not perform will be removed,” they added.
