PASSCO will procure 2.2m sacks of wheat

Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) will procure 2.2 million sacks of wheat in this year from district Hafizabad and procurement process will be started from 12, April while all necessary arrangement have been finalised for this purpose in the district.

This was stated by the Zonal Manager PASSCO, Mukaram Javed in a meeting held to review arrangements made for procurement campaign. Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Umer Farooq Warriach presided over the meeting. DC said that 19 purchase centres were setup in the district and the best arrangements were made by the district administration and other departments for providing necessary facilities to farmers at the centres.

He said that PASSCO was set a target to purchase two lakh and twenty thousand metric tons wheat from the district on supporting price of Rs. 3900 per 40 kg. He said that ban was imposed on carrying wheat out of district and special check posts were setup at all entry and exist points of the district.

He said that PASSCO would start distribution of ‘Bardana’ (empty socks) at all procurement centres among farmers from tomorrow (April, 12). Meanwhile District Police Officers Dr. Fahad Ahmad said that protection of life, property and honour is prime duty of the police and police is working round the clock to eliminate anti-social elements from society. He expressed these views while returning stolen and looted articles of worth Rs. 28 million recovered from accused.
