The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s Panahgah (Shelter Home) initiative is a flagship project that provides food and shelter to the hungry and the homeless.
The project is close to Imran Khan’s heart as the prime minister has reiterated that he will make sure during his government no one will sleep hungry or without shelter.
Chairperson of the Panahgah Programme and Central Vice President of PTI Women Wing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Neelum Khan Toru expressed these views during her visit to Panahgah set up at the Panjgai Road.
KP Minister for Social Welfare Dr Hisham Inamullah and PTI General Secretary Women Wing Dr Humaira Gilani also accompanied the Chairperson of the project and reiterated their commitment to serve the poor classes of society which is an important part of the PTI manifesto.
While talking to the media on the occasion, Toru said these Shelter Homes have been set up across the country where the low-paid, jobless and the poor get a two-hour meal free of cost and have shelter to spend nights.
This is a unique project and with the support of the private sector its network/operation is expanding, she said.
Toru termed the Panahgah at Panjgai Road a ‘Model Panahgah’ not only of KP but in the entire country.
In this Panahgah project, guests are provided Sehri and Iftaari keeping in mind all the health guidelines Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for coronavirus, she said. Neelum Toru on the occasion distributed clothes and cash (Eidi) among the guests of Panahgah.
She said the PTI government was aware of the poor people’s problems and was working on a comprehensive plan to provide relief to the poor labour class and said Prime Minister Imran Khan has made it clear there would be zero tolerance against those responsible for price hike and shortage of essential commodities.
Social Welfare Minister for KP Dr Hisham while taking a round of different sections of the Panjgai Panahgah commended the staff for making excellent arrangements at the shelter home.
