ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s newly elected President Asif Zardari vowed to work closely with Chinese President Xi Jinping to further boost cooperation, and to strengthen the all-weather partnership between Islamabad and Beijing.
Zardari, day after taking charge of top slot, penned a letter to the President of the People’s Republic of China, and expressed gratitude for his felicitations, saying Islamabad and Beijing share unique bond forged in crucible of history and nurtured by mutual respect, understanding, and common views on all global issues.
He highlighted crucial support of Chinese Communist for the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). In his letter, Zardari emphasized the strong bond between Iron brothers, built on mutual respect and common global views.
The president reiterated new government’s commitment to strengthen practical cooperation with China, highlighting significant progress in bilateral relations, especially in CPEC, referring to strong ties.
Earlier President Jinping sent warm wishes to the Pakistani president and vowed to work closely with him, noting decades long friendship between China and Pakistan’s treasure.
Xi said China and Pakistan are close friends, adding that the two sides supported each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns, and achieved fruitful results in the construction of the CPEC.
He further called for advancing practical cooperation in various fields, pushing for greater development of China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, accelerating the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
