PARIS – Pakistani athlete Haider Ali added another feather to his cap by securing Bronze with throw of 52.54 meters at the Paris Paralympics.
He clinched the record with his best throw on his final attempt. In initial throw, Hairder made it to 52.28 meters, but his second through fifth attempts were fouls.
The recent feat adds to Haider Ali’s distinguished record in Paralympic events. Notably, he previously bagegd gold in discus throw at the Tokyo Games and a silver in long jump at the 2008 Beijing Games. Besides this, Haider also secured a bronze at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
In addition to his Paralympic successes, Haider has earned a silver medal at the World Para Athletics Championships and boasts four gold and two bronze medals from the Asian Para Games. Over his career, he has accumulated five gold, two silver, and three bronze medals for Pakistan.
The Gujranwala-based athlete also etched his name in world record Paralympics long jump in 2008. Despite his significant achievements, his accomplishments have not been widely appreciated.
Paralympics opening ceremony was more enjoyable compared to the rain-affected Olympics ceremony, featuring clear weather and a beautiful sunset. Haider appreciated the venue and the chance to engage with fans, while Mughal noted the ceremony’s focus on inclusivity.
