KARACHI – Halala remains a less discussed practice in Pakistani as it refers to practice where a woman who has been divorced ties knot with another man and consummate that marriage before she can return to her first husband to remarry.

As the practice raised several questions, TV host Nadia Khan made shocking claims while discussing ongoing drama serial ‘Man Jogi,’ that surrounds this.

Nadia addressed important theme of Halala presented in the drama, and criticised emergence of Halala centers that exploit divorce situations for profit, stating, “These centers are taking advantage of people’s mistakes, which is forbidden in Islam and has turned into a mockery.”

She went on to share that she had seen advertisements for these centers, stressing seriousness of the issue.

The discussion sparked wave of reactions online, with users expressing outrage over the existence of Halala centers. Many even lamented declining societal values these centers represent, particularly criticising men who hastily divorce their wives and later seek these controversial alternatives.
