Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday thanked UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson for his message of felicitation on becoming Prime Minister of Pakistan and said that Pakistan and UK shared deep-rooted and broad-based ties.
In a tweet, the premier expressed his desire to work closely with the UK government and expand the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
“I look forward to working closely with you to further expand our longstanding friendship & take our multifaceted relationship to the next level,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said.

On Wednesday, Boris Johnson congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan and expressed his desire to work with the Pakistani premier on areas of shared interest.
“The UK & Pakistan have a longstanding relationship and our people share deep ties. I look forward to working together on areas of shared interest,” the UK prime minister said in a tweet.

After assuming the office of the prime minister of Pakistan on Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif continued receiving messages of felicitations from leaders worldwide.
From the Indian Prime Minister to the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia and from the Russian President to the US Department of State, all expressed greetings on Shehbaz’s election as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
