Pakistan plays vital role to avert humanitarian crises in Afghanistan

The legislators on Monday was informed that Pakistan was playing a role of responsible and peace-loving nation to mitigate sufferings of the people of Afghanistan by making serious efforts to avert humanitarian crisis there.

These views were discussed in Senate by leader of the House Dr Shahzad Waseem while responding to a motion moved by Senator Mushtiaq Ahmed to discuss the rapidly developing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s role for regional peace/security and to avert humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Dr Waseem said that Pakistan always gave a strong message that the people of Pakistan and the government were with the people of Afghanistan.

He said Pakistan along with friends and regional countries, played a proactive role to overcome the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan after withdrawal of foreign military troops from the war-torn country. “Recognizing Afghanistan is another issue, but we need to engage Afghanistan just to end the sufferings of the people of Afghanistan,” he added.

Earlier, PPP Senator Raza Rabbani said that TTP is continuing terrorist activities in Pakistan and regretted that the government began talks with them without take parliament in to confidence. He also regretted that Taliban stopped fencing with Pak-Afghan border.

Sherry Rehman also expressed her regret that the government was in talks with some group of terrorists. She demanded of the govt to brief the house about peace talks with TTP and others. Earlier, the Senate passed a resolution recommending the government explore alternate methods including Rain Water Harvest System on priority and further take necessary steps to bridge the gap between growing demand and supply of water in Islamabad.The resolution moved by Seemee Ezdi expressed deep concern over the poor water distribution and management system, scarcity of potable water and depleting supply capacity of Simly Dam and Khanpur Dam causing severe hardships to residents of Islamabad.

The House also passed another resolution moved by Shahadat Awan recommending that each Ministry and Division of the government shall immediately publish their respective updated laws, rules and regulations on their websites and in case of any amendment, update and public the same for the use of general public.
