RAWALPINDI – Bangladesh on Tuesday defeated Pakistan in the second Test match played in Rawalpindi, marking the first time in history that the Bangali Tigers whitewashed the Shaheens.
On the final day of the Pindi Test, Pakistan faced the challenge of saving the series while Bangladesh maintained a strong grip on the match, ultimately winning the two-Test series 2-0.
Bangladesh achieved a historic clean sweep by defeating Pakistan by 6 wickets.
On the other hand, for Pakistan to win the match, they needed to dismiss 10 players. The national team was bowled out for 172 runs in their second innings, leaving Bangladesh with a target of 185 runs to win the match.
Day Four
Earlier, Pakistan’s batting lineup failed miserably in their second innings, with the entire team being bowled out for 172 runs.
Starting the fourth day at 9 runs with the loss of 2 wickets, opener Saim Ayub was caught out after scoring 20 runs on a delivery from Taskin Ahmed when the score was at 47. Following him, captain Shan Masood was dismissed for 28 runs at a total score of 62.
After the departure of captain Shan Masood, experienced batsman Babar Azam also failed to make an impact and was dismissed for 11 runs. Babar Azam could not perform well throughout the series.
Vice-captain Saud Shakeel scored 2, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan 43, Mohammad Ali 0, Abrar Ahmed 2, and Mir Hamza 4 runs before getting out, while Salman Ali Agha remained unbeaten with 47 runs.
For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmood took 5 wickets, Naheed Rana 4, and Taskin Ahmed 1.
Chasing a target of 185 runs, the Bengal Tigers made an impressive start to their innings, but due to poor light, the play on the fourth day was called off.
Day Three
On the third day of play, Pakistani bowlers made a remarkable comeback. Khurram Shehzad and Mir Hamza bowled aggressively, sending Bangladesh’s top 6 batters back to the pavilion for just 26 runs.
For Bangladesh, Shadman Islam scored 10, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto 4, Mushfiqur Rahim 3, Shakib Al Hasan 2, while Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque were dismissed for 1 run each.
Later, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz forged a 165-run partnership for the seventh wicket, bringing Bangladesh back into the match. Mehidy scored 78, and Litton Das 138 runs before getting out. Taskin Ahmed and Naheed Rana were dismissed for 1 and 0, respectively.
For Pakistan, Khurram Shehzad took 6 wickets, while Mir Hamza and Salman Ali Agha claimed 2 wickets each.
By the end of the third day’s play, Pakistan had lost 2 wickets for just 9 runs in their second innings. Abdullah Shafique was dismissed for 3, and Khurram Shehzad for 0.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s team was bowled out for 262 runs in their first innings, chasing Pakistan’s total of 274 runs.
Day Two
In their first innings, the national team lost their first wicket at 0 when Abdullah Shafique was dismissed. However, captain Shan Masood and Saim Ayub formed a 107-run partnership. Shan was dismissed after scoring 57, and Saim Ayub after scoring 58.
Middle-order batter Saud Shakeel managed 16 runs, and Babar Azam scored 31. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan scored 29, Agha Salman 54, Khurram Shehzad 12, Mohammad Ali 2, and Abrar Ahmed just 9 runs before getting out.
For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 5 wickets, Taskin Ahmed 3, while Shakib Al Hasan and Naheed Rana claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and decided to field first. He stated that they aimed to bowl out Pakistan quickly to gain an advantage.
On this occasion, national team captain Shan Masood expressed his eagerness for victory, mentioning that Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah were rested, and Abrar Ahmed and Mir Hamza were included in the team.

The first day’s play between the two teams was called off due to continuous rain and a wet outfield, and the toss was also not possible due to bad weather.
