ISLAMABAD – Officials of Pakistan Air Force and Azerbaijan Air Force discussed advanced training and tech cooperation in a meeting of high-level delegation attended by Deputy Minister of Defense Mr. Agil Gurbanov and Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, Deputy Minister of Defense and Commander of the Azerbaijan Air Force.
Azeri delegation called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), to discuss enhancing bilateral military cooperation.
During the meeting, CAS Sidhu briefed delegation on recent accomplishments of the Pakistan Air Force, emphasizing his vision for operational excellence in modern warfare. He underscored the importance of strengthening the existing defense ties between the two countries, particularly in the areas of training and operational ties.
He also highlighted ongoing training program, in which a large contingent of Azerbaijani air and ground personnel is currently undergoing training at a PAF base. With more than 50% of the training objectives already achieved, the program is on track to be completed within a month, aimed at boosting the operational capabilities of the Azerbaijan Air Force.
The Azerbaijani dignitaries expressed admiration for the professionalism and progress of the Pakistan Air Force, especially in rapidly developing a self-sufficient aviation industry. They also expressed satisfaction with the training of 70 Azerbaijani aircrew and technicians currently undergoing instruction in Pakistan and expressed a desire to further enhance air force-to-air force collaboration.
In addition, the Azerbaijani leadership proposed the establishment of a more comprehensive training program focused on emerging technologies, cyber warfare, and electronic warfare to address the evolving challenges of modern warfare.
The delegation also visited the PAF Cyber Command, where they were briefed on the operational capabilities and ongoing modernization efforts within the Pakistan Air Force. This visit reinforces the commitment of both nations to further strengthen their military partnership, enhance cooperation, and promote deeper strategic ties.
