RAWALPINDI – Iran’s Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, the military’s media wing said.
A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations said COAS met Iran’s top diplomat at General Headquarters on Monday.
Regional security situation and other matters of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting, ISPR said, as Pakistan and Iran agreed to normalize diplomatic ties, following missile strikes that saw tensions.
The Iranian minister and COAS Munir reviewed the latest developments in the region, including the situation in the Gaza Strip.
In the key meeting, Pakistan’s top general underscored centrality of respecting the other state’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. COAS called it most important cardinal of bilateral ties.
The two agreed that terrorism was common threat that needed to be tackled through collaborative efforts, ISPR said.
COAS Munir also emphasised the need for sustained engagement and utilising available communication channels to address security concerns.
Dr Amir Abdollahian is in Pakistan as he is leading a high-level political, military, and security delegation.
