Pakistan and Azerbaijan sign 15 MoUs to enter new era of cooperation

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan, and Azerbaijan have signed agreements on Trade, Technology, and Tourism to enter new era of cooperation.

Islamabad and Baku formalized fifteen agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation across various sectors. These agreements were exchanged during a ceremony held in Islamabad today, attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

Under latest agreements, two sides aimed to improve consular affairs, transit and preferential trade, privatization of state assets, law and justice, mineral resources and geology, cultural exchange programs, IT and telecommunication collaboration, television production, scientific and technical cooperation, and tourism.

Two countries also agreed to enhance investments worth two billion dollars in mutually beneficial projects.

PM Shehbaz emphasised the potential for significant future investments and the enhancement of bilateral trade. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for Azerbaijan’s stance on Nagorno-Karabakh and appreciated Azerbaijan’s support for Kashmir. He also conveyed best wishes to Azerbaijan for hosting COP29 in Baku, expressing confidence in its success under Aliyev’s leadership.

President Aliyev also expressed Islamabad’s eagerness to strengthen economic and trade partnerships with Pakistan. He highlighted the identification of nine priority areas for preferential trade and discussed projects in energy infrastructure and defense. He recalled Sharif’s previous visit to Azerbaijan as a breakthrough, marking the beginning of practical cooperation in trade, energy, investment.
