Dr. Fang Liu, Secretary General, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Wednesday, emphasized that Pakistan’s geo-strategic location was of immense importance to the global aviation industry and ever-expanding commercial air traffic.
Dr. Fang Liu held meeting with Shahrukh Nusrat, Secretary Aviation Division/Director General Civil Aviation Authority, Government of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the 40th ICAO General Assembly Session in Montreal, Canada.
She expressed satisfaction that Pakistan was keen to reestablish its footprint in ICAO’s work. She appreciated the Pakistan delegation’s active participation in the ICAO’s ongoing 40th Session.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on further strengthening the existing close cooperation on various subjects of common interest, including aviation sector’s development.
On the occasion, Secretary Nusrat highlighted that Pakistan regarded ICAO’s work of immense importance for the global aviation industry. He informed that ICAO had concluded a very satisfactory security audit of Pakistan’s civil aviation during August-September 2019 and are fully geared up for ICAO upcoming safety audit next year.
The Secretary expressed Pakistan’s interest to substantially contribute to ICAO’s work through active participation and representation. The Secretary further requested Dr Liu for utmost cooperation by ICAO for representation of Pakistan at all forums.
The Pakistan delegation to the 40th ICAO Session also included Irfan Sabir, Director, CAA, Karachi, and Muhammad Saleem, Deputy High Commissioner, High Commission of Pakistan in Canada.
