The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab helped a Pakistani origin British national got registered a case against an influential personal for illegal occupying his land worth Rs800 million. According to details, Pakistani origin British national Munir Ahmad Khan Daha lodged a complaint with the OPC for retrieval of his land which had been illegally occupied by former secretary National Assembly Aslam Shami.
Taking action, the OPC got an FIR registered with Islampura Police against the former secretary National Assembly on charges of illegal occupying a piece of land owned by the overseas Pakistani by forging documents. According to FIR, accused made bogus power of attorney to file a suit and obtained degree from court fraudulently. Munir Ahmad Khan has appreciated the efforts made by OPC, especially Vice Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission Ch Waseem Akhtar. The complainant said that he had knocked door of every department for two years but could not get justice. “I filed a complaint with the OPC and within months, my FIR has been lodged”, he lauded. While expressing views on the occasion, the OPC vice chairperson said that Overseas Pakistanis are the backbone of the economy of Pakistan and the government is committed to addressing their grievances on priority basis.
