THE federal capital police have launched an online complaint management system to facilitate the masses at doorstep.

By visiting Islamabad police website, the people can now register different sorts of complaints including FIR.

The complainant will then receive E-Tag from the relevant police station via WhatsApp and SMS.Furthermore, registered complaint will be monitored by the senior police officers.

Digitalization is bringing a revolution in every walk of life and it is a matter of satisfaction that our police force is now also treading the path of technology which definitely will go a long way in improving its performance and efficiency.

The launch of online complaint system is a step in the right direction and must be appreciated as it will really encourage the people, especially the women, who otherwise avoid or hesitate visiting police stations, to lodge their complaints.

We have no doubt in saying that with the launch of this system, the number of complaints to be received by the capital police will increase.

However, to keep the online system relevant, the police department will also have to ensure timely addressal of these complaints.

Non-addressal will only further erode their confidence in the department. It will be unfair not to commend the efforts being put in by Inspector General Ahsan Younus for effective policing.

Embracing the technology, new mechanisms have also been introduced under his leadership to ensure effective monitoring at police stations.

These are aimed at improving the transparency and improving the behaviour of staff at police stations.

Present government had come to power with the manifesto to bring major reforms in police department, which indeed is imperative to provide speedy justice to the masses.

As IGP Ahsan Younus is doing excellent work, he must be fully supported to transform and make capital police a model for other federating units.

To improve the performance of police department, it is highly important that recruitments in it are made purely on merit and that the training to the personnel is given as per the contemporary requirements.
