The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure access to its facilitation centers and desk to submit “objections” regarding the fresh delimitations.
“The facilitation centers of the ECP as well as the desk to file objections about fresh delimitations should not be limited to Islamabad only,” said PPP Lahore President Chaudhary Aslam Gill on Saturday.
The PPP leader said that the facilitation centers and the desk for filing objections on fresh delimitations should be set up at the district level. “The constituencies for the National and Provincial Assemblies are spread throughout the country, while the Election Commission has established these facilities and centers only in Islamabad,” said Gill, making it clear that such decision caused wastage of time and expenses of the candidates. Therefore, he said, they demanded the chief election commissioner to ensure that both the facilities be extended to the district offices of the commission, so the work related to the constituency delimitations could be completed transparently and efficiently.
The PPP Central Punjab leadership, following the directions of party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, formed a committee on the members of the PLF at the district level in Punjab in a bid to provide legal guidance, assistance to Party ticket holders , candidates of the national and provincial assembly for filing nomination papers, objections regarding new delimitation , constituency. The committee would also deal with the appeals related to the ECP, tribunals and other allied issues in the General Election.
It may be mentioned here that the PPP Central Punjab President Rana Farooq Saeed made it clear they would not make seat adjustments in Punjab, the district organizations would keep an eye on the performance.
