NIMA hosts insightful seminar on Kashmir Solidarity Day

The National Institute of Maritime Affairs orchestrated a dynamic joint seminar in collaboration with Bahria University Karachi Campus and the IR Department of the University of Karachi. The event, themed “Kashmir Issue: Historical, Political, and Human Rights Dimensions,” unfolded at the Chinese Teacher Memorial Hall, University of Karachi, with Former Senator Javed Jabbar attended the occasion as Chief Guest.

The seminar commenced with a welcome note by Cdre (Retd.) Ali Abbas SI (M), Director of the National Institute of Maritime Affairs, and Dr. Naeem Ahmed, Chairman of the IR Department, University of Karachi. A series of engaging talks, including a keynote speech and discussions, aimed to shed light on the history and current situation of Kashmir, captivated the audience of guests, faculty, and students.

Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Nausheen Wasi, Muhammad Amir Sultan, Prof. Dr. Shaista Tabassum and Former Ambassador Syed Hasan Habib delved into pertinent topics related to Kashmir Solidarity Day. The discussions during the lively interactive session explored the challenges faced by the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir and emphasized the just resolution of the issue in accordance with UN Resolution and the aspirations of the Kashmiris.

Chief Guest Javed Jabbar, Former Senator & Federal Minister of Pakistan, proposed a four-party dialogue involving the Governments of Pakistan, India, Azad Kashmir, and Indian Occupied Kashmir to settle the longstanding issue and bring stability to the region. Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Iraqi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi, suggested launching a diplomatic offensive and strengthening the case internationally. In conclusion, Cdre (Retd.) Ali Abbas SI (M) and Dr. Naeem Ahmed expressed gratitude to the guests and speakers for their valuable contributions to the seminar’s success.
