DUBAI – New Zealand thrashed Pakistan by 54 runs in a Group A match to reach semi finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Dubai on Monday evening.

Chasing a 111-run target for the victory, Pakistan were all out at 56 in the 12th over. Skipper Fatima Sana was the highest scorer who made 21 runs. Opener Muneeba Ali scored 15 runs. No other batter could enter the double figures.

Amelia Kerr took three wickets and Eden Carson two while Rosemary Mair, Lea Tahuhu and Fran Jonas got one wicket each. Eden Carson was named player of the match.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, New Zealand scored 110/6 in the allocated 20 overs. Opener Suzie Bates was the top scorer with 28 runs followed by Brooke Halliday who made 22.

Skipper Sophie Devine scored 19, Georgia Plimmer 17, and Amelia Kerr and Maddy Green nine runs each. Nashra Sandhu bagged three wickets and Sadia Iqbal, Nida Dar and Omaima Sohail got one wicket each.
