ISLAMABAD – Authorities in the Pakistani capital city Islamabad rescheduled school timings for one month ahead of winter season.

A notification shared by the Federal Directorate of Education unveiled updated school timings for the winter season. Under the new schedule, morning shift schools will operate from 8:30am to 2:00pm, with an earlier dismissal time of 12:3pm on Fridays.

The institutions operating in the afternoon shift will run classes from 1:30 pm to 6:00pm. The new timings were announced to accommodate shorter daylight hours typical of the winter season.

The Punjab government issued updated guidelines for school reopenings on November 18, which include strict safety protocols in response to concerns about air quality and smog.

On the other hand, the government of Punjab announced that schools in the Rawalpindi Division will reopen tomorrow, following improvements in weather conditions and a significant reduction in smog levels. According to an official notification, schools in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, and Chakwal will resume normal operations.

This decision marks a reversal of the earlier closure order issued by the Punjab government, which had shut educational institutions from November 17 to November 24 due to hazardous air quality and smog. With conditions now improving, the government has cleared the way for students to return to their schools across the affected districts.
