Fake Delivery Scam in Pakistan: Pakistanis continue to face ongoing fraud issues due to its large population, poor economy, and gaps in regulatory and enforcement systems while no awareness and latest tech glitches further add to woes.
The latest scam surfaced that involves fake courier SMS to empty your bank account in no time. A citizen named Fateh Mehmood got a suspicious text claiming that a parcel was waiting for delivery and requesting his address.
SMS comprised a link, as scammers ask people to provide correct address and it also mentioned the Rs. 89 re-delivery fee. When the man tried paying Rs89, he got alert by his bank that there were insufficient funds in his account. As he checked what was going on, it turned out that the scammer tried to withdraw around Rs400,000 from a mobile shop in UAE.

Luckily, the lack of funds in Mehmood’s account saved him from losing a big chunk of his hard earned money.
This case is the latest in market and people are advised to be cautious with such fraudulent messages containing external links.
