RAWALPINDI – A network allegedly being operated by a former officer of the Adiala Jail to facilitate incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan was busted.
Security officials have arrested former deputy superintendent Muhammad Akram while two other jail officials – an assistant nazim and former deputy superintendent Zafar – are being interrogated in this regard. They will also interrogate six other persons, including head wards, in light of the revelations made by Akram.
The network was involved in providing mobile phone and various other facilities to the former prime minister inside the jail.
Muhammad Akram, who was removed from the post lately, is considered as a close person of PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari and a former Punjab minister.
The former deputy superintendent is facing charges of communicating messages for the PTI founder and facilitating him.
The jail administration is likely to hold a meeting to discuss the matter related to providing facilities to Imran Khan in violation of the rules and regulations.
