The National Electric and Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) Wednesday approved a Rs1.6 per unit increase in electricity price on account of monthly fuel cost adjustment for April.
According to the Nepra sources, the power consumers will have to make additional payments in the next month’s bills.
The increase in the electricity bills will not be applicable to lifeline customers. The Nepra will issue the detailed decision later.
According to the Nepra authorities, 16.06 percent less electricity was generated from water and 10.23 percent from coal.
Similarly, 12.08 percent less electricity was generated from imported coal and 3.98 percent from local coal..—INP
