LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo Nawaz Sharif has been elected unopposed again as president of the party, the sources close to the development said on Tuesday.
The sources said that nobody filed the nomination papers against Nawaz Sharif on the seat of the president of the party.
However, Rana Sanaullah had said that eleven nomination papers were filed for the slot of president of the party.
“N in the PML-N means Nawaz Sharif. He took the party to fame and it made governments thrice under his leadership,” said Rana Sanaullah, who is also the chief election commissioner of intra-party elections, while addressing a press conference in Lahore on Monday.
Rana Sanaullah said, “If the whole party agrees to elect him again then there should be no issue in the re-election of Nawaz Sharif,”. He said that everyone has the right to file the nomination papers and they were sitting for this purpose.
Talking about revamping of the PML-N, Rana Sanaullah said that the PML-N is present at all levels, pointing out that there is always a need to mobilize the working.
“The process of mobilizing the workers in the parties always continues,” said the PM’s aide.
