LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday made the central contract conditional on players’ fitness and performance.
While informally talking to the media in Lahore, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that he had a video call with Shan Masood in which they discussed improving things, and received many positive reports about Shan Masood.
Regarding the central contract, the PCB Chairman said that players participating in leagues should understand that Pakistan comes first and everything else afterwards. Only two NOCs (No Objection Certificates) can be issued for leagues, and no NOC will be given during a series.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that the central contract is now conditional on fitness. Those who meet the standards of performance and fitness will receive a central contract. Everyone will get what they deserve in the central contract, and there will be a post-mortem in the central contract as well. It is mandatory for both domestic and international cricketers to pass the fitness test. Any international player who does not play domestically will not be able to rejoin the national team, while only those players who perform well in domestic matches will be part of the national team.
Regarding grouping within the team, the Chairman said that they are also looking into politics and grouping within the team. It will be clear who followed instructions in the dressing room during the World Cup and who did not.
