Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah met with a delegation of Thar Coal affectees to address their concerns regarding employment, water, and other essential facilities. The delegation, led by Bhim Raj and Leelaram, presented their grievances about the lack of services and opportunities for the local population impacted by the Thar Coal project. Nasir Shah assured the delegation that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Ms. Faryal Talpur, and Chief Minister of Sindh, had prioritized the provision of basic facilities and employment to the people of Thar.
He emphasized that these issues were a top priority for the provincial government, with efforts already underway to improve the local conditions. “I am issuing immediate instructions to the local administration to address the legitimate demands of the affectees,” said Nasir Shah. “The Sindh government is fully committed to providing employment opportunities, basic services, and other essential facilities to the local people of Thar.”
The Minister further added that training programs for the local population are being initiated as part of a broader effort to empower the people of Thar with the necessary skills for employment. Additionally, Nasir Shah announced that a representative of the Thar Coal affectees would be included in the committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of these measures.
