NEW YORK – The sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, who gained fame from the iconic film Rockstar, has been arrested for her alleged role in a double murder case.
The International media reported that Aliya Fakhri, the sister of Nargis Fakhri, was taken into custody in Queens, New York, and is currently being interrogated.
The 43-year-old Aliya is accused of setting fire to a two-story house which resulted in the deaths of 35-year-old Edwards Jacobs and 33-year-old Anastasia Eden, who suffocated due to smoke inhalation.
The District Attorney stated that, according to an eyewitness, Aliya arrived at the house on the morning of November 2, shouting, “Today, you will all die,” after which a fire was seen raging in the house.
The investigation suggested that the jealousy might be the motive behind the incident, and if the charges are proven, Alia Fakhri could face a life sentence. Aliya’s bail request was denied in Queens Criminal Court, and the next hearing for the case is due on Dec 9.
Nargis Fakhri’s mother commented on the matter, saying that Alia could never have thought of harming anyone; she was a helpful and caring person.
As of now, Nargis Fakhri has not issued any statement on the matter, and the actress is not present with her family during this time.
