National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is set to roll out automated self-service kiosks across high-traffic areas in Karachi. The initiative, which follows a successful trial in Islamabad, aims to reduce the long queues and wait times that have long been a challenge for citizens seeking services like ID card renewals, lost card replacements, and Child Registration Certificates (Form B). The new kiosks, which will be installed in strategic locations such as NADRA mega centers, railway stations, airports, shopping malls, educational institutions, and government offices, are designed to make essential services more accessible to Karachiites. Citizens can use the machines to input their personal details, undergo biometric verification, and capture photographs—all at their convenience.
The kiosks also allow users to choose between urgent or normal processing, providing greater flexibility. Upon completing their application, users will receive a QR code that facilitates fee payment through JazzCash, Easypaisa, or credit and debit cards. The automated system promises a quicker turnaround time, with ID cards set to be delivered within 15 to 30 days after the application is submitted. NADRA Assistant Director Ammar Haider confirmed that the new service will first be introduced at the NADRA mega centers in Karachi before expanding to other public locations across the city. The goal is to make identity card applications faster, more efficient, and less burdensome for the people of Karachi. “By placing these machines in high-footfall areas, we hope to bring our services closer to the citizens, saving them valuable time and ensuring a hassle-free experience,” said Haider.
