As per the decision of the Supreme Court, the Accountability Courts (ACs) in the province and the National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NAB-KP) have re-started proceedings on all the inquiries, investigations and references on Thursday. According to a letter of NAB –KP, the Registrar, Accountability court-II, Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been asked to immediately ensure compliance with the judgment of the Supreme Court regarding National Accountability Bureau and Accountability courts.A copy of the letter said that all the inquiries, investigations and references which had been disposed of on the basis of the struck-down sections were restored to their positions prior to the enactment of the 2022 amendments and shall be deemed to be pending before the relevant fora.
The NAB and all other fora shall forthwith return the record of all such matters to the relevant fora and in any event not later than seven-day and shall proceed in accordance with law from the same stage these were at when the same were disposed of/ closed/ returned,” it said. According to an official source, NAB-KP has returned about 160 references to eight accountability courts in Peshawar after the decision.
