ISLAMABAD  – The National Assembly on Friday passed a resolution condemning the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

After the approval of the resolution, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while addressing the assembly, said that it is a good sign that the assembly has collectively brought forward a resolution on the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh. He expressed gratitude to the assembly and all members of parliament for the approval of the resolution.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that the massacre in Gaza has been ongoing for nine months, with more than 40,000 Palestinians, including women and children, being martyred. Hospitals, schools, and media representatives in Gaza have been targeted.

The Prime Minister said that closing our eyes to this massacre would not work; they strongly condemn the assassination of martyr Ismail Haniyeh, and the Zionist state must be brought to justice for these crimes.

It may be mentioned here that a day of mourning is being observed across the country today in solidarity with the Palestinians on the martyrdom of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

On Thursday, it was decided in a meeting of leaders from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party, Balochistan Awami Party, MQM, IPP, Pakistan League-Quaid (PML-Q), Muslim League Zia, and National Party that a funeral prayer in absentia for martyr Ismail Haniyeh would be held after Friday prayers today, and a day of mourning would be observed across the country in solidarity with the Palestinians.

Assassination of Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh:

It is noted that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was martyred on July 31 in an Israeli attack in the Iranian capital, Tehran. He was in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Mahmoud Pashikian.

In Tehran, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei led the funeral prayer for Ismail Haniyeh, attended by thousands of men and women.

According to Arab media, after the funeral prayer in Tehran, Ismail Haniyeh’s body was shifted to Qatar, where he would be laid to rest.
