Muree Snowfall Update: ‘Malka-a-Kohsar’ attracts tourists as snowfall expected

Tourists from Punjab and other regions are planning to visit the country’s most visited hill station Murree to experience snowfall from Sunday.

PMD predicted a slight dip in mercury along with snowfall in several destinations under new weather conditions. Murree and Galyat regions are also bracing for rainfall, while hilly regions are bracing for snowfall.

Fresh western wave is likely to affect Muree, and other regions from Sunday. On Saturday, the temperature in Muree spans between -1 to 8 degrees centigrade.

Murree also known as Malka-e-Kohsar holds picturesque views of Kashmir hills and twin cities. Thousands of tourists visit hill-station on weekends to enjoy a holiday at different locations.

PMDA also issued a forecast for Murree and surrounding areas, with the expected snowfall. A spokesperson from PDMA said that the authorities had been diligently working to prevent any untoward incident during snowfall and the influx of large number of tourists.

Meanwhile, travelers, accompanied by families primarily arriving from various districts of Central Punjab and northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were observed in significant numbers in the valleys of Kalam, Madyan, Bahrain, and Malam Jabba in Upper Swat.

Weather Update

Met Office said Kashmir, KP, and parts of northwest hilly regions are likely to get rainfall, accompanied by snow.

People in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and KP will experience rain and snowfall as a westerly wave is approaching today and may affect the upper parts of the country.

In Punjab, fog will continue to blanket the plains, with a possibility of rainfall in Islamabad and its surroundings.

Met Office said coastal areas of Makran have been cautioned about potential rainfall, and heavy fog is predicted in various cities, including Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Jhang, and more.

It said KP regions – Kohat, and Bannu – will experiecne rain, while Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Peshawar, could experience slight showers.
