A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan and the Sichuan Agriculture University of China for cooperation and collaboration in research activities and faculty exchange.
The MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob and Vice President Sichuan Agriculture University of China Prof Chen Daiwen.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr Athar Mahboob termed the memorandum of understanding as a historic document for progress in teaching and research between the two universities promoting joint research projects and mutual exchange at the faculty and student level.
The two universities agreed to set up a China-Pakistan Crop Research Center to conduct research on high quality and high yielding crops.
As many as 20 to 25 scholars from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur will study at Sichuan Agriculture University on scholarships.
Under the exchange program, teachers and students of both universities will visit each other and conduct teaching and research activities.
Both the universities will hold joint conferences and training workshops and publish research journals.
On the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Ali Raza, Post-Doctor, College of Agronomy, Sichuan Agricultural University, was lauded for his services in promoting links between the two universities for the promotion of strip intercropping technology.
