The alertness of the Motorway Police on Sunday morning averted a disaster after a loaded oil tanker caught fire near Nankana Service Area on Motorway 3.
After spotting the fire, the Motorway Police stopped the oil tanker, filled with 50,000 litres of petrol.
The police personnel separated the oil tank from the vehicle and used a water tanker to douse the fire. Motorway Police’s Sector Commander Syed Hashmat Kamal led the operation to remove the oil tanker from the main road.
The police also blocked traffic from proceeding towards the accident site and diverted it to other routes.—INP
