MOSCOW – The Russian Federal Security Service confirmed the death of 143 people while nearly 200 were injured in an attack on Saturday at Moscow concert hall.
IS-K attackers wearing camouflage stormed a concert venue in the Russian capital, with sophisticated weapons. An inferno was seen during the attack as people ran in a frenzy.
The attack sent shockwaves across Russia and parts of world while 11 people, including four suspected gunmen, in connection with the rampage were held.
Daesh claimed responsibility, but Moscow suggested a Ukrainian group, which Kyiv denied. Federal Security Service claimed the arrest of suspects who were involved in Russia’s deadliest shooting in 20 years.
National Day of Mourning in Russia
Amid shock and anger of the attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin termed Saturday’s shooting a ‘barbaric terrorist act’ and announced a day of mourning at the national level.
Speaking to the nation, Russian President said the victims were dozens of innocent, peaceful people. He also warned attackers.
