Former director general of Inter-Services Intelligence and Pakistani retired general Faiz Hameed has been detained by armed forces and Senator Faisal Vawda hinted at more trouble for Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

As the country saw first such arrest of a high-ranked military official, Senator Faisal Vawda said the development would bring more legal troubles for PTI.

Speaking with local TV, Vawda termed this the beginning of much larger issue, linking Faiz Hameed directly to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and suggesting that the fallout will extend far beyond current expectations.

Vawda said Faiz Hameed and PTI were are one same page. He further hinted at evolving situation into something much more significant. The outspoken politician termed Faizabad sit-in case as relatively minor issue compared to the broader implications that will emerge in days to come.

He further predicted severe consequences for beleaguered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, stating, “The coming days will see PTI and its founder in more legal trouble.”

He however praised current armed forces role to accountability and progress, and suggested that this is an opportunity to celebrate the country’s movement towards positive development and urged that political actors allow institutions to carry out their roles effectively.
