Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal has said network of 32 model bazaars are providing substantial relief to the buyers in different cities of the province and more model bazaars would be established in every tehsil of the province.
While addressing a gathering of party workers at his camp office on Tuesday, he expressed the satisfaction that hundreds of thousands of people benefit from the facility of model bazaars while thousands of petty shopkeepers are also earning their livelihood.
Aslam Iqbal said that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has given in-principle approval to establish a Model Bazaar in every tehsil of the province to expand the scope of model bazaars. The farmers are allowed to directly sell their produce in model bazaars as free stalls are provided to them by the government, he added.
The provincial minister further said that 309 Ramadan bazaars will start functioning from Shaban 25 to provide essential items at subsidized rates. The public interest will be protected as the welfare of the masses is very dear to the government, he stressed. He added that line departments are also activated to ensure availability of edibles at government rates and vowed that those creating artificial price-high will be made a horrible example.
Crackdown against illegal profiteers and hoarders will be continued with full force as illegal profiteering is equal to dacoity over the rights of the indigent stratum and no mafia will be allowed to do so, concluded the minister.
