Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights Ejaz Alam Augustine on Monday declared that the Punjab government has been protecting the rights of religious minorities at all levels.
The Punjab government under the leadership of Imran Khan and CM Punjab celebrated all religious festivals at official level to show solidarity with religious community, which has been ignored in the past.
Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights Ejaz Alam Augustine expressed the views in a meeting.
with a delegation of Christian League Pakistan led by Chief executive Anjam Bhatti. On the occasion, the delegation lauded the services rendered by the Punjab government for the religious community in the province and assured their fully cooperation. They also extended invitation to the minister to visit District Layyah.
The provincial minister informed the delegation that all available resources are being utilized for the protection of religious minorities to eliminate sense of deprivation among them.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for HR&MA Ijaz Alam Augustine hosted a farewell dinner in the honour of Sikh yatrees at Governor House. Various members of Punjab Assembly, social and political personalities also attended the dinner.
The yatrees had come to attend death anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak led by religious leader of Sikh community Giani Harpreet Singh.
On the occasion, the provincial minister welcomed all the Sikh yatrees in Pakistan, especially Punjab. He said that the Sikh community loves Baba Guru Nanak as the people love, living in Pakistan while the Sikh community always loved to visit Pakistan as their own home. He said that all possible steps are being taken for the protection of religious minorities in Punjab.
The PTI government has been striving to translate historic words of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah into reality, in which he said that everyone in new Pakistan will be free to go his worship place.
