ISLAMABAD – Authorities in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have stopped Metro bus service amid protests of Jamaat e Islami and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf.
Amdi the chaotic scenes, all Metro services, Red Metro, Green Line, Blue Line, and Electric bus, are suspended on Friday and are expected to remain disrupted over the weekend.
The federal and Punjab government imposed Section 144, which bans public gatherings, leading to increased security and the suspension of Metro services in critical parts of the capital city.
Islamabad Protests
The suspension of bus service caused inconvenience for thousands of citizens who use Metro for daily commute. Islamabad police also started a crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami and PTI for violation of Section 144 imposed in parts of the country.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is taking to road for the release of party founder Imran Khan while JI is taking out protests over soaring inflation, costly electricity contracts, and the detention of political figures.
