Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid emphasised the significance of mental health in development of a healthy society in the Conference on Mental Health organised the Psychiatry Department of the Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
Present on the occasion were Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah medical University Professor Amir Zaman Khan. The Minister expressed appreciation and congratulated the organizers for holding an important conference on an issue of great importance. “People suffering mental illnesses require attention and care of their families. The families must treat them compassion and care. On its part, the government is doing its best to provide care and support to these patients.
Further, the Institute of Mental Health is providing good quality services to such patients and we are also trying to improve services,” the Minister said.
Fatima Jinnah Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Amir Zaman Khan gave an overview of the work of the Psychiatry Department and also thanked the Minister for coming to the department.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has directed to ensure timely completion of development projects here on Friday.
Chairing a meeting of the Punjab Health Facilities Management Company at its head office, the Minister said that new health facilities have not been developed over decades when compared with the rate of population growth and this has increased the crowd at hospitals two folds.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary PSH Department Ajmal Bhatti, Additional Secretary Development PSH Omar Farooq and other officials. The Minister reviewed the progress of development and upgradation work in different hospitals.
