The best gift to children, especially daughters, can be the father’s support and attention when they start something new. In a conservative society, a father in Karachi has trained his 6 children, including 4 daughters in boxing.
For the past few years, Nisar Ahmed has coached his children in boxing. Some of his children, including two daughters, have participated in international tournaments and have won medals for Pakistan.
Soft-spoken and a doting father, Nisar has steered his children towards boxing to install confidence and self-defence within them. Nisar has trained his four daughters as hard as his two sons and produced some of Pakistan’s best female fighters.
“Boys are stronger and more athletic, but girls can make up for less strength by mastering the techniques,” he explains. One of the children, Bilal Nisar said, “I feel proud when I see my four sisters as boxers. They are representing Pakistan on an international level and making our country proud.”
Bakhtawar Nisar, the eldest daughter, has won several gold and silver medals at the national level. She is also the first female referee of professional boxing in Pakistan. On the other hand, she is also the first female commission member of the Pakistan boxing council (PBC).
The youngest daughter, Mahnoor Nisar, has earned the second position in the junior boxing tournament besides winning gold and silver medals.
Another daughter, Nimra Nisar, while sharing her story, said, “I have been doing boxing for the past ten years and had won several gold and silver medals in Amateur boxing.
