Marriyum Aurangzeb to be appointed as senior minister in Punjab cabinet

LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb would be appointed as the senior minister in the provincial cabinet, the sources close to the development said on Wednesday.

Marriyum Aurangzeb is alsolikely to get the role in the Planning and Development department, said the sources, adding that she may also be assigned the Department of Forests and Wildlife.

According to the sources, Azma Bukhari is likely to be made Minister for Information and Broadcasting while Chaudhry Shafay Hussain may be made the Minister for Business and Industry.

They said that Sher Ali Gorchani would be given the ministry of Mines and Minerals in the provincial cabinet. Sahil Bhatt will be given Transport, Kazim Pirzada will be assigned Irrigation, Rana Sikandar Hayat will be given Primary Education, Khawaja Imran Nazir will handle Primary Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique will be given Specialized Health, Ashiq Kirmani will be appointed to Agriculture, and Khalil Tahir Sindhu will head the department of Human Rights.

Similarly, Ramesh Arora may be assigned Minority Affairs, Faisal Khokhar is likely to be appointed as Sports Minister and Zeshan Rafique may be given the local governments.

The sources said that the oath taking ceremony would be held today at 4 p.m. at Governor House Lahore.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formed the new Punjab Cabinet through mutual consultation, which includes more than two dozen ministers, special assistants, and advisers.
