LWMC serving on front line against Covid-19: CEO

Lahore Waste Management Company issued its 6 months performance report.
During the first 6 months of the year 2020, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) removed a total of some 8 Lac 22 thousand tons of waste from across the city. Some 15,000 waste related complaints were received on helpline 1139 which were resolved on a priority basis. LWMC imposed more than 5000 fines for illegal waste dumping.
LWMC CEO Aslam Rao stated that the department has been working tirelessly to maintain cleanliness in the city which is followed by constant efforts and dedication of workers/officer towards their duty. LWMC works around the clock no matter what occasion or weather conditions are; the level of motivation and dedication never decreases.
Turk contractors are also ensuring their all their resources, manpower, and machinery in the field for effective solid waste management. CEO LWMC also added that a solid waste management system is getting challenging due to rapid urbanization and an increase in population but on the other hand company is facilitating citizens and engaging them to play their pivotal role in maintaining cleanliness in the city he further added that department has made a comprehensive plan regarding proper disposal of animal offal’s during upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
GM Operations LWMC Mr. Sohail Anwar Malik said that department is working in close coordination with Wasa during Monson and providing its all support.
He also said that LWMC has played and playing a pivotal role in combating against pandemic Covid-19, as workers are performing their duties in quarantine centers, in collaboration with MCL department is continuously disinfecting the main road, squares, residential areas, bus stops, footpaths etc.
Spokesperson LWMC Mr. Jamil Khawar briefed that department is using extraordinary resources to provide a clean environment to more than 10 million people of Lahore, but without their prompt cooperation it is difficult to maintain cleanliness in the city. Citizens can always dial LWMC helpline 1139 or Mobile based application Clean Lahore for their waste related complaints which are being resolved on priority.
